For another year, ACS, as part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility actions, collaborates with GIVMED, the non-profit organization that ensures the access of socially vulnerable groups to pharmaceutical material. Specifically, from October 14 until November 14, 2022, at the ACS network stores in the Prefecture of Attica, medicines will be collected for the Social Pharmacy of Moschatou - Tavrou.

The process is as follows: The donor checks his pharmacy for drugs that he can donate. Medicines to be donated must not be expired, refrigerated, labeled and used or opened in the case of syrups, ointments and inhalants. The donor then places the medicines in a cardboard box, which is closed and clearly marked "Medicines for GIVMED". Finally, he delivers the carton to the nearest ACS store in Attica, which will undertake to send it safely to the Social Pharmacy of Moschatou - Tavros.

Since the beginning of the cooperation between the two organizations in May 2018, the public benefit structures of the GIVMED network, such as social pharmacies, nursing homes and children's structures have received thousands of medicines collected and distributed by ACS. It is noted that the value of the medicines collected by the residents of Attica in the corresponding action of 2020 exceeded 10,500 euros.

ACS will continue to support such actions, within the framework of the Corporate Social Responsibility program implemented by the company in recent years, which focuses on 4 social pillars: emergency/natural disaster response and nationwide actions, nature protection , strengthening quality education and highlighting our cultural heritage and supporting vulnerable social groups.

 

About GIVMED

It is noted that every year in Greece at least 34,000,000 medicine boxes expire and are thrown in the trash, while at the same time approximately 1,900,000 people live below the poverty line, i.e. they have difficulty meeting basic needs, such as access to medicines needed. The GIVMED | Share medicine Share life is the non-profit organization, which ensures the access of socially vulnerable groups to medicines (elderly, children, needy, refugees, mentally ill). It was founded in March 2016 and to date has offered a total of 310,170 boxes of medicines and 294,785 boxes of health and paramedical materials, worth 4,283,420 euros through a network of 168 charitable organizations-donation points.
