Quest Group: Double Award at the Hellenic Responsible Business Awards 2024
Quest Group was recognized at the 9th Hellenic Responsible Business Awards among the Greek companies that promote the values of Responsible Entrepreneurship and invest in Sustainable, Environmental, and Social Development.
Specifically, the Group received the Gold award in the category "Impact on Local Communities" for the initiative "Quest Group conducted the first pilot flight for medical supplies delivery from Kos to Pserimos using a BVLOS drone ." Quest Group's Innovation Center, iQnovus, in collaboration with Drops Smart Hubs, PROBOTEK (a member of the Pleiades IoT Innovation Cluster), and Quest Group companies ACS and Uni Systems, successfully completed a pilot flight for the delivery of medical supplies from Kos to Pserimos using a drone in September 2023. This marked the first BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) flight license granted by the Civil Aviation Authority for transporting sensitive medical materials. The VTOL (Vertical Take-off & Landing) drone, with a 3-meter wingspan, completed the 12-kilometer flight in eight minutes, remotely monitored by two pilots (one in Kos and one in Pserimos). The project was carried out in collaboration with the Municipality of Kos and local island authorities.
Additionally, the Group received the Bronze award in the category "Emergency Response" for the initiative "Humanitarian Aid Mission and Drone Services in Thessaly after the Catastrophic Floods of September 2023." Following the devastating floods in Thessaly in September 2023, Quest Group sent humanitarian aid, including essential supplies and specialized services, to meet the urgent needs of the local community. They offered the state their expertise, equipment, and services from their companies to carry out drone flights over the affected areas. The drones operated for eight days in regions of Karditsa, conducting 160 flights. They carried out more than 12 missions delivering medicine and food to isolated individuals where other means of access were unavailable. In collaboration with municipal engineers, the mission also mapped the affected areas through 22 damage assessment flights.
Antonis Kassano, Research, Development, and Innovation Director of Uni Systems and head of Quest Group's Innovation Center iQnovus, commented: "At Quest Group, by leveraging creativity, technology, and new methodologies through innovation, we pave the way for more effective and sustainable responses to social challenges, which is one of the main pillars of iQnovus's strategy. A common feature of the projects for which we were awarded was the long-range autonomous flights to provide services that directly impact our daily lives, such as the delivery of medical supplies to remote and inaccessible areas. These flights were the first step towards the safe and effective integration of BVLOS autonomous flights both in urban environments and in the countryside, highlighting the creation of new business models and strengthening sustainable economic development with social benefits through innovation."
