ACS: New nationwide action to collect medicines in cooperation with GIVMED
Press Release
ACS launches a new nationwide medicine collection initiative in collaboration with the non-profit organization GIVMED, from October 1st to November 1st, 2024.
Interested parties can deliver to the nearest ACS store any medicines that are no longer needed, provided that the respective medicines are not expired, a refrigerator is not required for their preservation, they are not open (when it comes to syrup, ointment, drops, inhaler, injectable, colloid, solution, emulsion), they do not belong to the two-line category and that their coupon (sticker with barcodes) has been removed. The medicines must be packaged in a closed carton box and marked 'Medicines for GIVMED'. ACS will undertake their free shipment to the Social Pharmacy of Poros.
The new initiative follows the successful similar actions of previous years in the region of Attica and now it expands at a national level, as the company, sensing the public's willingness to donate, has decided to offer the opportunity to an even greater number of our fellow citizens to participate. ACS's collaboration with GIVMED began in 2018 and to date has led to the distribution of medicines worth more than 2.849,876 Euros to public benefit structures, such as social pharmacies, nursing homes and childcare centers.
ACS, a Quest Group company, will continue to support similar actions, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility program that has been implementing for the last few years and which focuses on four pillars: a. responding to emergencies/natural disasters and nationwide actions, b. protecting nature, c. enhancing quality education and promoting our cultural heritage and d. supporting vulnerable social groups.
About GIVMED
It is recorded that every year in Greece more than 40,000,000 boxes of medicines expire unused and are thrown in the trash, while at the same time about 1,900,000 people live below the poverty line, i.e. they find it difficult to meet basic needs, such as access to the medicines they need. GIVMED | Share medicine Share life is the non-profit organization that ensures access to medicines and health products for socially vulnerable groups (elderly, children, destitute, refugees, people with mental health problems). Founded in March 2016, it has so far provided a total of 1,128,929 boxes of medicines and health products worth 9,671,461 euros through a network of 224 charities.
